Description COMPETITION # 2026NLLC-IA01 POSITION TYPE UNIONIZED, TERM (4 Months), FULL-TIME Who We Are NETES is a not-for-profit Indigenous organization supporting the success of Indigenous people in Winnipeg. We offer adult education, skills training and employment services, along with wrap-around services such as daycare, student housing, and health and wellness programming. Rooted in community, respect, and Indigenous values, our work helps build a strong, thriving Indigenous community.

The Opportunity The Neeginan Learning & Literacy Centre (NLLC) provides adult literacy and foundational education in a supportive, Indigenous-centred environment that promotes lifelong learning, personal growth, and community connection.

NLLC is seeking a dedicated, community-minded Instructional Assistant passionate about adult education and student success. Working closely with instructors and learners, the successful candidate will help create a welcoming and supportive learning environment that encourages confidence, growth, and achievement.

Key Responsibilities

- Inspire and encourage learners throughout their educational journey.
- Assist with classroom instruction, learning activities, and educational guidance for students.
- Support the preparation of instructional materials, classroom activities and learning centres.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive, and culturally respectful learning environment.
- Work with small groups and individual learners to reinforce classroom learning and provide additional support.
- Assist with digital learning activities, including basic computer training and computer-assisted learning opportunities.
- Contribute to a positive, organized, and student-focused classroom environment.
- Maintain confidential records, filing systems, and databases, and assist with administrative duties.
- Work collaboratively to support student success and community growth.
- Other duties as required.

Qualifications

- Post-secondary certification in an approved Instructional Assistant or similar, or a combination of post-secondary education and experience, may be considered.
- Knowledge of Winnipeg’s Urban Indigenous communities is an asset.




- Clear Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Adult Abuse Registry Check
- Valid First Aid/CPR

Experience And Skills

- Experience supporting adult learners, clients or community members is an asset.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to create a positive, welcoming and inclusive learning environment.
- Organized and able to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and basic computer applications.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Patient, adaptable, and have a learner-focused approach.
- Experience working in educational, community or administrative settings is considered an asset.
- Able to perform light physical duties, including lifting and moving
