Description POSITION TYPE FULL-TIME, 35 HOURS/WEEK (Mon – Fri, 1:30 pm – 9:00 pm) THE ROLE The Lead Youth Activity Worker is a front-line position that is responsible for planning and leading activities and programs for children and youth ages 6-18, program prep and clean up, purchasing program supplies, preparing meals and snacks, driving participants in agency vehicles on field trips, mentoring Activity Workers and volunteers, promoting safety, and dealing with incidents and sensitive issues.

The Lead Activity Worker is someone that enjoys working with children and youth. They thrive in a fast-paced setting where they can get involved in the activities, build healthy and positive relationships with the children and youth, and expand the children’s skills and interests. They are experienced in planning engaging, purposefully activities and programs in a variety of areas such as arts and culture, sports and recreation, leadership and service to the community, health and life-skills, and education and career exploration.

They are comfortable and confident in leading activities for small and large groups of children and has positive group and behaviour management skills. They are a leader that can think quickly on their feet, stays calm under pressure and enjoys mentoring others.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Experience planning and leading activities for children and youth.
- Strong group management skills.
- Valuable organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge and experience within cross-cultural settings.
- Knowledge of youth development, youth issues and community resources.




- Has a strong commitment to social justice, EDI and truth and reconciliation.
- Must have a Class 5F Manitoba Driver’s License with a clear Driver’s Abstract.
- Willing to obtain Class 4 license within 6 months of hire.

ASSETS:

- Pursuing or have a post-secondary education in Education, Child and Youth Care or related social sciences field
- Experience handling a program budget/petty cash
- Experience leading or mentoring staff or volunteers
- Valid First Aid & CPR certification
- Valid Safe Food Handling Certificate
