Service Planner, Crane Service
Location: Edmonton, AB

Position Summary
Kristian Electric is seeking a Service Planner, Crane Service to support and coordinate our service operations in Edmonton. This role is responsible for planning and scheduling technicians, managing customer requests, and preparing quotations for repair and maintenance work.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring efficient service delivery, accurate job costing, and a high level of customer satisfaction. This position requires strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced service environment.
Key Responsibilities
Service Planning & Coordination
- Plan, schedule, and dispatch technicians for inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs
- Manage incoming service requests, including breakdowns and emergency calls
- Monitor job progress and adjust schedules to meet customer timelines
- Work closely with the Service Supervisor to optimise technician utilisation
Quoting & Estimating
- Prepare detailed quotations for repair work, breakdowns, and maintenance services
- Review technician reports and inspection findings to determine scope of work
- Accurately price labour, parts, and subcontracted services
- Follow up on quotations to secure customer approvals and purchase orders
Customer Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for service-related inquiries
- Provide clear and timely updates on job status, delays, and completion
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships through professional communication
Work Order Management
- Create, update, and close work orders in the ERP system (Foundation)
- Ensure all labour, parts, and notes are accurately recorded
- Adjust work orders as scope changes or additional repairs are identified
- Submit completed work orders for invoicing in a timely manner
Parts & Procurement Coordination
- Coordinate with Purchasing to source and order required parts
- Identify parts requirements using manuals, drawings, and technician feedback
- Track parts availability to ensure job readiness
Warranty & Documentation
- Manage warranty claims and RMA processes with manufacturers
- Ensure all service documentation is complete, accurate, and properly filed
- Maintain digital records in accordance with company standards
Safety & Compliance
- Support technicians with required safety documentation
- Ensure all work is planned and executed in compliance with safety standards
Core Competencies
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Mechanical or electrical aptitude (crane and hoist knowledge is an asset)
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure
- Team-oriented with a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Strong commitment to safety
We are looking for a highly motivated self-starter who can adapt quickly and perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic service setting.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in service planning, service writing, or estimating in an industrial environment
- Experience quoting repair and maintenance work is required
- Parts sourcing experience is an asset
- Experience with ERP systems (Foundation 3000 preferred)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)
- Valid driver’s licence considered an asset
