About the Role

As an Associate Lawyer, you will work closely with experienced counsel while managing your own files across Civil Litigation, Family Law, Real Estate – Residential and Commercial, Wills & Estates.

The firm has a strong, established client base and sufficient work to keep the successful candidate busy. There’s no expectation to bring an existing book of business, and the team is genuinely supportive, with a strong interest in mentoring and helping you grow.

This Role Offers a Variety of Work, Including

- Manage files independently from intake to resolution
- Represent clients in civil litigation and family law matters, including court appearances and negotiations




- Assist with civil litigation matters, including contract disputes and general civil claims
- Draft pleadings, agreements, motion materials, and legal correspondence
- Handle residential and commercial real estate transactions
- Prepare wills, powers of attorney, and assist with estate-related matters
- Assist with estate-related disputes or litigation matters
- Provide practical, client-focused legal advice
- Maintain accurate file management and ensure deadlines are met
- Work collaboratively with lawyers and support staff to deliver high-quality legal services

Qualifications

- Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- 2–4 years of post-call experience
- Experience in one or more of the following areas: civil litigation, family law, real estate, or wills and estates

Required Skills

- Strong advocacy, drafting, and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment
- Professional, client-focused, and detail-oriented
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work onsite in our Chatham-Kent office

Considered an Asset

- Experience appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice or Superior Court of Justice
- Interest in building a long-term legal career within a small firm environment
- Experience preparing Real Estate documents, searching titles, and working with real estate clients

Working Conditions

- Office-based, onsite position in Chatham-Kent, Ontario

Compensation

- Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications ($70,000 – $90,00)
