Your Opportunity

nStantec's Geotechnical and Materials Engineering Team is looking for a Senior Geotechnical and Materials Technician to join our team in Saint John, NB. Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, you will work closely with an experienced team of engineers and technicians to become part of our dynamic team and perform laboratory and field-testing services. Our team provides conventional and advanced field laboratory testing services for soil, rock, aggregate, and concrete.n

Your Key Responsibilities

n

n
- Conduct various geotechnical construction inspections such as footing and foundation level inspections, drill investigations, test pit inspections, reinforcing steel inspections, proof roll and subgrade inspections, and attend regular construction meetings
n
- Complete geotechnical field-testing activities, including caisson installation, piling supervision, rock anchor testing, observation of deep foundation installation, and piezometer installation and measurements
n
- Conduct construction quality control/quality assurance tasks and prepare quality documents
n
- Mentor, coach, and train junior technical staff as required
n
- Assist with field and laboratory testing of soils / aggregates for petrographic testing.

- Promote safe work practices for field activities
n
- Operate computerized and digital testing equipment
n
- Inspect contractor activity
n
- Interact with Materials and Geotechnical Engineers routinely
n
- Assist and lead proposals for geotechnical work and assist the project team with preparation of technical deliverables.

nYour Capabilities and Credentialsnn
- Current registration with PEGNL or affiliated regulatory body in NL (C.Tech., P.Geo., C.E.T., or P.Tech.(Eng.)
n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Willingness to be a team player with a strong ability to work independently

- Demonstrate initiative and ability to multitask in a rapid-paced environment

- Able and willing to work away from home occasionally for fields assignments.

n
- Capable of repeatedly lifting 25kg test samples
n
- Able to traverse uneven ground will be required
n
- Valid Driver's License is required
n

nEducation and ExperiencenTechnical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field (Geotechnical, Geology, Civil Engineering / Technology) or equivalent combination of education and experiencen





Minimum Of 10 Years Of Experience.nPossess or be able to obtain a valid Newfoundland driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle

Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather.

- Locations in PEI-$61,400.00 - $89,000.00 Annually

nPay Transparency:nIn compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
