Position Summary:

Roe Environmental Inc. is seeking a Senior Biologist to manage and oversee the delivery of

a large water quality program supporting environmental monitoring at the Woodfibre LNG

Project near Squamish, BC. This field-based role requires understanding of water chemistry

and a demonstrated technical expertise in overseeing both in situ and ex situ sampling in

accordance with the conditions of Waste Discharge Authorizations and the British

Columbia Approved Water Quality Guidelines, in keeping with BC Sampling Manual with

high levels of QAQC.

Position Term:

Contract positions beginning in May and June.

Shift work – 14 days on / 7 days off with potential for night shift work

Position Location:

The position will involve fieldwork at and around the Woodfibre LNG Project near

Squamish, BC. Candidates residing outside the Squamish area will be accommodated in a

private room aboard the Floatel (a converted cruise ship) moored on site for the duration of

their shift. All meals are provided on board, and both accommodation and meals are

supplied at no cost.

Preferred Capabilities:

- Fish assessment and/or fish salvage experience.
- Identification of juvenile Pacific salmon.
- Solid interpersonal skills for client and contractor communications.
- Hydroacoustic monitoring experience is an asset.

Requirements:

- R.P. Bio. R.B. Tech. or P. Biol. is required, though a P. Ag. designation may be

considered if the candidate is sufficiently experienced with water chemistry. Must be

a QEP.





- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role in environmental consulting.
- Demonstrate and maintain a sufficient level of physical fitness to support the

demands of the role, including prolonged periods of standing, walking distances of

up to 5 km over uneven, slippery and/or rough terrain, frequent bending and safe

lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 20 kg.

- Though the role is primarily desktop-based, the successful candidate will be

expected to be comfortable working on boats and in outdoor settings for long

periods of time (10-12 hours).

- Position likely to require 14 days on / 7 days off shift.
- Must be legally allowed to work in Canada (Permanent Resident or existing Open

Work Permit required.

Preference Given to Candidates With:

- Suitable academic background and/or experience with applied science biology work

or other related field work.

- Priority placement will be given to (1) Squamish Nation members and (2) Indigenous

candidates with demonstrated experience, competency, and a good safety track

record.

- Lower Mainland-based candidates.
- Level 1 First Aid

Compensation

- $35/hour - $45.00/hour based on experience and training.
- Overtime in keeping with Canadian employment laws.
- 30% increase anticipated on hourly rate for all night shift work, if required.
