We are seeking an energetic and motivated Construction Helper – Summer Student to join our dynamic team. Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta was established in 1990 and works in the communities of Airdrie, Brooks, Calgary, Carstairs, Chestermere, Cochrane, Cremona, Didsbury, High River, Medicine Hat, Okotoks, Olds, Pincher Creek and Sundre. We currently manage a portfolio of approximately 250 families,



with an annual recent construction program building approximately 20 – 25 new homes a year at an annual spend of $6M in construction. To date, we have partnered with more than 400 families, impacting the lives of more than 1,200 children.

The Role:

The Site Assistant is responsible to provide on-site support for construction and volunteer activities.

Responsibilities:

- Meet and greet volunteers with on-site staff daily
- Set up coffee for site staff and volunteers and lunches for corporate build days
- Assist workers and volunteers in signing in and gearing up with all the required PPE and tools
- Pick-up and deliver materials for construction as may be required
- Keep the entire jobsite safe, clean and organized
- Ensure all first aid incidents, accidents, and near misses are properly recorded and reported
- Ensure that adequate and proper PPE is available for all workers and kept organized
- Site prep and preplanning with Site Supervisor for upcoming corporate build days
- Help provide a positive site experience for all corporate groups and volunteers
- Ensure the site office and tool trailer is kept clean, organized, and stocked as required
- Assist in the building and preparation for homeowner occupancy
- Support the Site Supervisor for corporate group events
- Learn to train, support, and encourage Volunteers and Homeowners on construction methods and on General Home Maintenance

Qualifications:

- Ability to interact positively with large groups and individuals on a daily basis
- Ability to work unsupervised and safely on a construction site




- Basic tool operation knowledge and home building techniques
- Interest in residential construction
- Strong understanding of the importance of workplace safety protocol
- Competence in computer systems and programs i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and MS Teams
- Strong communication, interpersonal, conflict resolution and problem-solving skills required.
- Excellent organizational, administrative, customer service and time management skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-cultural setting and implement practices supportive of diversity
- Have a valid class 5 driver’s license, abstract and reliable vehicle required
- Ability to drive a pick-up truck
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Able to work in all weather conditions

Location: Build Site - Chestermere, AB

Compensation: $20.00 per hour, 40 hours per week

Contract length: 16 weeks, May 4th, 2026 to August 21st, 2026
