Twin Valley Co-op invites applications for the position of General Manager (GM) to lead their passionate team.

Twin Valley Co-op has been in operation since 1929, and through amalgamations serves the areas of Birtle, Elkhorn, Miniota, Rossburn, and Russell with total sales topping 135.8M. As the GM, you would be responsible for the development of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets for Board approval; identifying opportunities and leading the implementation of actions to address areas of concern.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with the Board to develop the strategic direction for an organization spanning multiple geographic locations and commodities in alignment with the vision, mission, and values. Provide continuous support to the Board and committees of the Board and ensure regular reporting is provided including Annual General Meeting preparation and reporting.
- Responsible for the financial health of the organization. Lead the development of the organization’s annual operating and capital budgets (ex. financial reporting, audits and member equity investments) and present to the Board for approval.
- Provide leadership to the organization, including the recruitment/retention, goal setting, performance management, succession planning, and training and development of team leaders.
- Build, maintain, and encourage positive and effective relationships with stakeholders, team leaders, team members, customers, and other parties. Oversee and monitor consumer satisfaction levels, ensure customer issues are resolved,
and identify areas for improvement.
- Oversee the safe, sustainable, and efficient operation of the organization and lead the innovation of processes and services. Provides leadership to the Operations team(s) to ensure productive utilization of resourcing and assets to achieve operational plans and business outcomes, including the maintenance and security of assets.

You will work closely with the Board of Directors and will have 7 direct reports within the Senior Leadership Team. This team strives to cultivate a culture of integrity, inclusion, and prosperity.

Twin Valley Co-op serves five communities within their service area; the region has a rich agricultural background and a strong sense of community. Across these communities there are many schools, health care services and facilities, recreational facilities, and community centres. Getting outside is easy to do with camping, fishing, hunting, and skiing locations in neighbouring national and provincial parks.
Who you are:
You are a recognized leader in Retail Operations and:
- Have a strong background in Retail Management, areas of Agriculture or Petroleum would be considered an asset.
- Have 7-10 years of leadership experience (a diploma or degree is an asset but not a requirement).
- Strong skills in overseeing detailed department operating budgets, timelines, people, and processes.
- A reputation for being honest and trustworthy, results-oriented, and striving to be the best in what you do.
- A commitment to building relationships and collaborating to deliver solutions that matter most, and you recognize the value that different perspectives bring to meet shared objectives.
