Job Overview
Motel Chelsea is a woman-owned business with inclusive hiring practices. We are seeking a skilled Lead Line Cook (expediting and hot side) to work 4 days, Thursday to Saturday 12-10pm, and Sundays 10-6pm . You must have a great attitude to join our happy, solid team in a very busy live music listening room with a gastrodiner menu. You need to be a strong expediter: fast and exact on the line, clean, organized with clear communication.

You must have a solid grasp of emotional regulation to fit in with our team that works well together.

You must have your own vehicle as we are 15 minutes from the Byward Market, but with limited public transportation.

Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu items according to standardized recipes and presentation guidelines
- Assist with food preparation tasks such as chopping, marinating, and assembling ingredients
- Ensure all food handling procedures comply with safety and sanitation standards
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen equipment throughout shifts
- Serve dishes promptly and accurately to guests, ensuring quality control
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient kitchen operations during busy periods
- Follow food industry best practices for storage, portioning, and waste management
- Support the overall food service process by assisting with meal assembly and plating as needed

Qualifications

- Prior experience in food service, restaurant, or kitchen environments preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques, cooking methods, and meal presentation
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and proper handling procedures




- Solid understanding of the food industry standards for cleanliness and hygiene
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude toward collaboration
- Basic knowledge of serving protocols and customer service principles is a plus
