Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Shop Steward / Shipping & Receiving to support our shop operations. This role is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring the shop remains organized and efficient. The successful candidate may also be required to perform local delivery and pickup duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping & Receiving

- Basic computer skills (inventory systems, email, etc.)
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against packing slips and purchase orders
- Prepare and package outgoing shipments accurately and safely
- Coordinate freight, couriers, and delivery schedules
- Maintain shipping/receiving records and documentation
- Report damaged or missing items promptly

Inventory & Shop Organization

- Track and maintain inventory levels
- Label, store, and organize materials and equipment
- Assist with regular inventory counts and audits
- Keep the shop, yard, and storage areas clean and orderly
- Yard Maintenance

Delivery Driver Duties (as required)





- Perform local pickups and deliveries of materials and equipment
- Load and secure materials safely for transport
- Complete delivery documentation and logs
- Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections

Seasonal Property Maintenance

- Perform snow removal (shoveling, salting, operating equipment as required) to maintain safe access to shop entrances, walkways, and yard areas
- Conduct summer yard maintenance, including grass cutting, weed control, debris removal, and general property upkeep
- Ensure outdoor areas remain clean, organized, and hazard-free year-round

Health & Safety

- Follow all company health and safety policies and procedures
- Use required PPE and safe material handling practices
- Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment
- Report hazards, incidents, or near misses

Qualifications & Requirements

- Previous experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations preferred
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Ability to operate telehandler, forklifts etc. or willingness to be trained
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, self starter
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Reliable, punctual, safety conscious and team-oriented

Assets (Preferred but Not Required)

- Forklift certification
- Experience in a fabrication or industrial shop environment
- Knowledge of shipping procedures and documentation
- A – Restricted Licence or willingness to obtain
