Associate Vice‑President, University Relations (AVPUR)

The Associate Vice‑President, University Relations (AVPUR) will shape and advance the university’s academic, teaching, and research mission, strengthening internal and external connections and telling AU’s stories of success and impact. The AVPUR will provide vision and oversight for an integrated approach to internal and external relations that goes beyond traditional communications and marketing to foster authentic and meaningful engagement with diverse partners. The AVPUR will champion and safeguard AU’s brand, reputation, and values while setting a standard of excellence across marketing and communications, community engagement, digital and web operations, events including convocation, and alumni and donor relations.
We are seeking an accomplished and inspiring leader with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and a proven track record of progressive leadership in complex, multi‑partner environments. The ideal candidate brings several years of leadership,
with a background in the post‑secondary or public sector and familiarity with unionized environments considered an asset. The successful candidate is a strategic and values‑driven thinker who prioritizes the university’s academic mission and reputation, builds solid and trusting relationships, and fosters collaboration across diverse internal and external communities.
