Employment Opportunity – Bylaw Enforcement Officer
Reporting to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) or designate, the Bylaw Enforcement Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with municipal bylaws through education, investigation, and enforcement. The role supports public safety, community standards, and quality of life while maintaining positive public relations.
Candidates must have
· Grade 12 education or equivalent (GED);
· Post- secondary education in law enforcement, criminal justice, or related field considered an asset;
· Minimum two years’ experience;
· Working knowledge of municipal operations and bylaws;
· Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract;
· Clean criminal record and vulnerable sector check
· First Aid certification
Core competencies include strong communication and conflict resolution skills, along with the ability to make effective and influential decisions to ensure situations are resolved in a courteous and timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to work independently and manage high-pressure situations, while accurately interpreting and communicating Town bylaws. Possesses strong organizational and report-writing skills, complemented by a customer service mindset grounded in professionalism and empathy.
Able to establish and maintain a high degree of public confidence and positive relations and is proficient with computers and report management software.
The range for this position is $69, 772.17 - $81, 749.21 per annum. The current work week is based on 40 hours; the general shift rotation will be based on either an eight- or ten-hour shift, to be determined by employer. This may include a rotation of days, evenings and weekends.
