We are currently hiring a Production Labourer to join the team at our mechanical evaporation facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.
Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture.

How will you contribute to the team?
To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following
- Various clean up duties and sanitation of areas assigned by supervisor.
- Operate mobile equipment including Forklift, Skidsteer, and Loader
- Assisting on various production lines
- Occasionally help in the maintenance department.
- Perform small maintenance tasks.
- Responsible for the safe handling and storage of all finished product.
- Conduct magnet and screen checks and taking retain sample(s) for further analysis.
- Responsible for the safe storage of opened packaging material.
- Accurately complete all worksheets for each shift.
- Polite and courteous interactions with the public.
- Responsible for duties pertaining to the loading of bulk trucks including QC inspection of bulk loading trailers and accurate completion of billing operations.
- Responsible for all duties pertaining to the compacting, crushing and conveying of all salt products to various production lines.
- Ensure QC Pad testing of all food grade salt, and that it is satisfactory before conveying to the production line.
- Responsible for the setting and filling of all premix feeders as well as the safe storage of all opened premix.
- Responsible for magnet and screen checks for each shift.
- Other duties as assigned.
What should you bring to the role?
- Minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma
- Previous work experience in a process-related industry, knowledgeable about process equipment and control systems, and flexible to different task assignments.
- Previous experience operating a Forklift is considered an asset.
- Ability to multi-task, have a high sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Mechanical background with the ability to troubleshoot, problem solve, repair and resolve issues related to the position is considered an asset.
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel
- Experience with inventory management and/or billing software an asset.
- Have a valid class 5 driver’s license.

What is the work schedule?
- The shift schedule is twelve (12) hours per day and forty (40) hours per week, averaged over six (6) weeks, as per the collective agreement.
