We are currently hiring a Heavy Duty Mechanic to join the team at our mechanical evaporation facility in Unity, Saskatchewan.

Located in the western part of Saskatchewan, Compass Minerals’ Unity Mechanical Evaporation Plant is one of the company’s four mechanical evaporation plants. The plant produces and packages a wide variety of salt products including water conditioning salt, bulk salt, food-grade salt and salt for agriculture. The Unity Evaporation Plant is located in a friendly community of 2,500 that loves hockey and curling, situated in the beautiful big-sky prairies, an hour from North Battleford and a 2-hour drive from Saskatoon. How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following

- Use and maintain tools and equipment while performing general maintenance, inspections, and routine trade activities to keep our heavy fleet running strong.




- Diagnose and repair engines and engine support systems with speed and precision for maximum uptime.
- Diagnose and repair hydraulic, hydrostatic, and pneumatic systems for smooth, powerful performance in tough conditions.
- Diagnose and repair drive train systems to deliver consistent machine performance on every job.
- Diagnose and repair steering, suspension, brake systems, wheels, and undercarriage to keep operators safe and equipment productive.
- Diagnose and repair electrical systems and electronic vehicle management systems.
- Diagnose and repair environmental control systems plus structural components, accessories, and attachments.
- Perform required cleaning duties to maintain a safe, organized workspace.

What should you bring to the role?

- Journeyperson certificate for Heavy Duty Mechanic or Heavy Duty Agriculture Mechanic
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience with Microsoft Office programs: Excel, Word
- Experience in E1/JD Edwards ERP is an asset.
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Must be able to work in hot temperatures and climb steps as required
- Experience with turbine and generator operating in a cogeneration setting, in a process-related industry, be knowledgeable about process equipment and control systems, and be flexible to different task assignments.
- Ability to multi-task, have a high sense of urgency with regards to operational requirements and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

What is the work schedule?

- The shift schedule is Monday-Friday, 8 hours per day, or as assigned as per the collective agreement.
