About Us

Anishnawbe G’Zhiitoonegamic (A’Gic), meaning “Peoples Place of Building”, is an indigenous women-led social enterprise located at 300 Archer Drive in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The enterprise offers a transformative solution to the housing crisis facing Indigenous and Northern communities. Emerging from the Keepers of the Circle and grounded in Indigenous values – A’Gic provides low-carbon, energy-efficient modular homes that are not only affordable and climate-resilient but also culturally grounded and community-informed.

Summary of Position

The Architectural Designer and Estimator (CAD / CAM) reports to the General Plant Manager and works closely with the Sales, Design, and Production teams. This position operates in a manufacturing and production-based environment, supporting the factory’s end-to-end design-to-build workflow. The role bridges sales drawings and finalized production outputs to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and seamless transition to manufacturing.

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) position based on-site in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. The starting salary will be determined based on experience, and the start date for this position will be discussed further during the interview process.

Job Requirements and Qualifications

- Post-secondary education in Architectural Technology, Construction Technology, Engineering Technology, Industrial Design, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in estimating, CAD/CAM design, or design-to-production roles within construction, modular housing, or manufacturing environments.
- Proficiency with CAD and CAM software and experience producing machine-ready files.
- Robust understanding of construction methods, materials, and framing systems.




- Experience preparing material take-offs and cost estimates.
- High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
- Ability to collaborate across departments and work within production timelines.
- Experience working in an Indigenous workplace and knowledge of Indigenous cultures and communities is considered a strong asset.

Roles and Responsibilities

- Convert sales and concept drawings into detailed framing and production designs.
- Produce accurate material take-offs and cost estimates to support pricing and planning.
- Prepare CAD/CAM outputs and machine-ready files for production equipment.
- Coordinate design lock-in with production to ensure build readiness and minimize errors.
- Collaborate with sales, design, and manufacturing teams to resolve design or constructability issues.
- Support continuous improvement of design-to-production processes and workflows.
- Maintain organized documentation and version control for all design files.
