Process & CIP Validation Specialist

Job Purpose

The Process & CIP Validation Specialist is responsible for verifying and validating the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitation processes within the manufacturing facility. This role ensures that Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and sanitation procedures operate consistently and meet internal quality standards, GMP, HACCP, and regulatory food safety requirements.

The position supports the Quality Assurance team by reviewing sanitation processes, validating CIP parameters, inspecting processing equipment, and identifying potential sanitation risks to ensure safe and hygienic production operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Verify and validate CIP system parameters including temperature, chemical concentration, flow rate, and contact time.
- Monitor and review CIP cycles, sanitation records, and cleaning documentation to ensure procedures are executed correctly.
- Inspect processing equipment periodically to verify cleaning effectiveness and absence of product residues or contamination risks.
- Perform mechanical inspections of sanitary equipment including pumps, valves, pipelines, and fittings to ensure proper cleaning coverage and system integrity.
- Assist in opening, inspecting, and reassembling process equipment such as pumps, valve assemblies, strainers, and other CIP-connected components when required for sanitation verification.
- Review and interpret P&ID; (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams) and process flow diagrams to verify CIP coverage, identify dead legs, and assess potential sanitation risks.
- Assist in developing and maintaining cleaning validation protocols and sanitation SOPs.
- Maintain and update the CIP cleaning matrix for production equipment.
- Support sanitation verification activities including environmental monitoring and sanitation inspections.




- Investigate sanitation deviations and assist with implementing Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
- Identify sanitation risks such as dead legs, valve seats, pump housings, and areas with poor cleaning coverage.
- Assist in training production and sanitation employees on CIP procedures, sanitation best practices, and basic equipment inspection techniques.
- Participate in sanitation audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, Sanitation, and Maintenance teams to resolve sanitation-related issues.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements

- Post-secondary education in food science, microbiology, chemistry, engineering, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in food manufacturing, dairy processing, sanitation, or quality assurance is considered an asset.
- Knowledge of Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and sanitation programs.

Understanding GMP, HACCP, and food safety regulations.

- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand sanitary process equipment such as pumps, valves, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
- Ability to read and interpret P&ID; diagrams and process flow diagrams.
- Basic understanding of equipment disassembly and inspection for sanitation verification purposes.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Good communication and documentation skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $19.00 per hour

Ability to commute/relocate:

- St. Eugene, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

Experience:

- Manufacturing: 1 year (preferred)
- Food Quality assurance: 2 years (required)

Language:

- English (preferred)
