Assignment:

- Full-time 1.0 FTE temporary replacement Student Success Coach position

n

- Duties to commence August 26, 2026 and will continue for the remainder of the 2026/2027 school year

n

n

Roles &

n

- Responsibilities:

n

The High School Student Success Coach Program in Wolf Creek Public Schools focuses on:

n

n

- Relationships and Mentoring

n

- n

- Meeting at minimum monthly with each First Nations, Metis and Inuit student in the school

n

- Advocate for First Nations, Metis and Inuit student voice

n

- Celebrate First Nations, Metis and Inuit students

n

- Organize events and build a schedule that reflects opportunities for connections, belonging, and relationships (clubs, groups).

n

- May monitor (in collaboration with school administration) attendance and academic performance.

n

n

n

- Culture

n

- n

- Assisting elder’s programming within the designated schools; chaperoning students to and from allotted time slots for each class or individual meetings, accommodating elders by bringing them tea or water.

n

- Providing cultural support for students wanting to smudge, by welcoming them into a space where they can participate in that.

n

- Supporting planning of cultural events, presentations, and traditional ceremonies within the school

n

n

n

- Academics &

n

- Transition Supports

n

- n

- Support transition of First Nations, Métis and Inuit students moving from Ponoka Elementary to Ponoka Secondary Campus

n

- Support First Nations, Métis and Inuit transitions from Ponoka Secondary Campus to BRICK Learning Centre (and vice versa)

n

- Support transitions and build relationship and belonging for First Nations, Métis and Inuit students new to the school

n

- Tutor or provide opportunities in schedule for academic support for First Nations, Metis and Inuit students

n

- Support with high school mapping and planning to build success (graduation planning support)

n

n

n

- Career Planning

n

- n

- Keep up to date Post-secondary information on site - specific to First Nations,



Metis and Inuit support centres at postsecondary institutions.

n

- Assist in applying for post secondary, scholarships

n

- Advocate for First Nations, Metis and Inuit student involvement in dual credit opportunities across the division

n

- Advocate for First Nations, Metis and Inuit student involvement in work experience opportunities

n

n

n

- Parental Engagement

n

- n

- Connections (monthly at minimum) with all First Nations, Metis and Inuit Parents and Guardians

n

- Plan parental engagement events to support bringing First Nations, Metis and Inuit parents, guardians and families into the school.

n

- Involved in meet the teacher, parent teacher interview nights

n

n

n

n

Other responsibilities will include:

n

n

- Active member of the Ponoka Secondary Campus team

n

- Active member of First Nations, Metis &

n
- Inuit Student Success Team in Wolf Creek Public Schools

n

- Attend First Nations, Métis &

n

- Inuit Cohort Teacher Meetings.

n

- Attend monthly meetings with First Nations, Metis and Inuit Student Success Coordinator to discuss program, build leadership capacity, trouble shoot, share ideas and build relationship

n

- May attend Wisdom &

n

- Guidance Committee meetings.

n

- May contribute updates to school newsletter, school announcements and social media platforms

n

- Collaboration with school administration, career counsellors, and education services team.

n

- Other duties as discussed with the School Leader and Director of Indigenous Education and Reconciliation

n

n

The following demonstrated competencies will be required of the Ponoka Secondary Campus Indigenous Student Success Coach

n

n

- Bachelor of Education Degree.

n

- Evidence of experience and/or application of supporting the Application of Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit

n

- Evidence of work and/or relationship with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous youth and/or Indigenous Community

n

- Evidence of robust planning and organizational skills

n

- Evidence of ability to build strong, trusting relationships
