About The YES

The Youth Excellence Society (YES) is a non-profit organization that delivers transformative leadership camps for youth ages 14–18 across British Columbia.

Position Details

Volunteer opportunities are available during the following camp weeks:

- July 5–11
- July 12–18
- July 19–25
- July 26–August 1
- August 2–8
- August 9–15
- August 16–22

Transportation to Lake Cowichan is provided, along with meals and accommodations during camp.

Small honorariums may be available depending on role, experience, and availability.

Responsibilities

- Support the delivery of leadership programs and camp activities
- Help create a welcoming and inclusive environment
- Assist with games, workshops, and group activities
- Support staff with logistics and daily operations
- Act as a positive role model for youth participants
- Contribute to a strong and supportive camp community

Who Should Apply

Experience in camps, recreation, education, or youth programs is an asset but not required.

The candidate will receive excellent training in facilitation, leadership, crisis response, and team building at our intensive 4-day overnight staff training from June 13-16 in North Vancouver. All costs associated with this training are covered by The YES. Additionally, all new staff will receive on the job training and mentorship from experienced YES facilitators.

Our volunteers will work together to prepare and lead a variety of programs and activities, including sports, games, arts and crafts, and interactive leadership activities. Our goal is to create relationships with teenagers that allow them to feel confident, curious and recognize their strengths. Our camp takes place at Cowichan Lake on Vancouver Island.
