Casual Skate Patrol Job Locations CA-BC-Lake Cowichan Competition Number 23213-E Closing Date 2/7/2024 Type Casual Department Community Services Division Cowichan Lake Recreation Location: Name Cowichan Lake Recreation General Information The Cowichan Valley Regional District is now accepting applications for casual Skate Patrol opportunities at Cowichan Lake Sports Arena within the Community Services Department.
Reporting to the Manager, Cowichan Lake Recreation and supervised by the Recreation Programmer II and Program Assistant I, Skate Patrol assist with developing, planning, and implementing a wide variety of activities including public skates, birthday parties and special events; ensures the ice surface is safe; supervises skaters on the ice ensuring a fun and safe environment; enforces rules and regulations; hands out and receives rental skates, interacts with and responds to public inquiries and other related duties.
Qualifications Preference will be given to candidates who are 15 years of age or older.
Experience with sharpening skates, performing inventory and overseeing a float would be considered assets. A valid First Aid Level I with Child CPR Certificate (or if under age 16, the Emergency for Community Care Certificate)
Ability to skate competently Ability to respond and communicate effectively with the public and co-workers Ability to maintain a friendly, courteous, professional manner Ability to effectively enforce rules and regulations Ability to work effectively as a member of a team Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations accurately and efficiently.
Hours of Work As this is a casual chance, there are no guaranteed hours of work.
Hours of work are scheduled based on operational needs and may include a variety of shifts including days, evenings weekends, statutory holidays, and school professional development days.
Salary This non-union casual opportunity has a starting wage range of $17.99 - $19.15 - $20.02 per hour, plus an additional 17.2% pay in lieu of vacation, benefits and statutory holidays, as per the Non-Union Wage Scale (2024 rates).
