- Literacy experience or training would be an asset.

- Strong organization, coordination, research, and time management skills.

- Ability to be flexible and adapt to different situations to meet client and program needs.

- Genuine interest in working with people.

- Good knowledge of the community and the services available.

- Able to work independently or as part of a team.

- Good computer skills, including Microsoft office.
n
- Ability to work creatively, solve problems and collaborate with partners.

- Experience working with people from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.
n
- Valid Driver’s license and access to their own transportation.

nPosition term:nPart time, subject to funding.n
Starts As soon as possible, to Oct 9th, 2026, at 12 hours per week. Subject to probationary period.

Community Garden Coordinator Job Description The Community Garden Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Community Garden program. This position reports to the Executive Director/Program Manager and works with all programs and positions at HLL.
n
Description of Duties
n
Programming and Services
n
n
- Presents a plan for the Garden for the season, for review, in the first two weeks of employment.
n
- Develops and organizes the registration process for the Community Garden beds and the greenhouse.
n
- Ensure that the garden overall is repaired and maintained.
n
- Coordinates with other programs and services around the use of the garden.
n
- Schedules monthly Workshops in the garden, based on participants interest, and in consultation with other Staff.
n
- Schedules monthly BBQs at the Garden
n
- Provides supervision of the Summer Students at the Garden.
n
- Actively works with the philosophy that everyone is a teacher and everyone is a learner.
n
- Coordinates all volunteers at the Garden.
n
- Collaborate with the Market Manager and Students to support the market and get produce to the Market.
n
nCommunity and Public Relationsn
n
- Develop community partnerships that enhance the objective of the Garden.
n
- Participates in community committees and other programs and events to promote awareness of the Community Garden and to develop new and existing partnerships.
n
- Promotes programs and services within the community, including regular newspaper articles to the Houston Today, social media and event information to local radio.
n
- Solicits referrals from community organizations and agencies.
n
nGeneral Dutiesn
n
- Adherence to skilled standards of practice and professional and organizational ethics.
n
- Ability to apply reflective practice to work.
n
- Maintain statistics every day.
n
- Maintains statistics for contact and phone calls for the program.
n
- Conducts entrance and exit interviews with participants.
n
- Maintains a daily descriptive journal of all activities.
n
- Responsible for monthly reporting.
n
- Attend job related in-service workshops and meetings as required including monthly staff meetings.
n
- Conducts program evaluation.
n
- Is responsible for working with the manager to make sure the program stays within budget.
n
- Vacation and other coverage where required.
n
- Other tasks as required or as assigned.
n

Contract length: 6 months
nPay: From $22.00 per hourn
Expected hours: 12 per week
