Huntsville District Memorial Hospital is a 48-bed hospital serving 20,000 local residents and 85,000 seasonal residents. Our tourist population is much larger in the summer when people take advantage of our lakes and rivers or visit the world-renowned Algonquin Provincial Park.
n
Acute care hospitalist (24hrs x 7 days)
n
Monday at 8am to following Monday
n
Caseload – average of 15-18 (can be higher if desired) attached and orphaned patients
n
Admissions – every 3rd patient (Mon-Fri); every other patient (Sat/Sun)
n
OR assist – every other patient or by negotiation with hospitalist partner (Sat/Sun only)
n
Remuneration: $650/day (Mon-Fri) + $750/day (Sat/Sun) = $4750/week + FFS
n
Acute care hospitalist (24 hrs x 5 days)
n
Monday at 8am to Friday at 5pm (or when rounding is completed)
n
Caseload – average of 15-18 (can be higher if desired) attached and orphaned patients
n
Admissions – every 3rd patient
n
Renumeration: $650/day (Mon-Fri) = $3250 + FFS
n
ALC hospitalist (24 hrs x 5 days)
n
Monday at 8am to Friday at 5pm
n
Caseload – 15-20
n
No admissions – patients are transferred from acute to ALC in discussion with acute care hospitalists
n
Patients do not require daily visits – involves rounding typically at least once per patient per week
n
Managing acute issues and assisting with discharge plans
n
Patients can be transferred back to acute care hospitalist if they become acutely unwell
n
Remuneration: $250/d (Mon-Fri) = $1250/week + FFS – (good for semi-retired or vacationers who want to do some work while here); or combining with part time office locum
n
Support
Shared coverage of all hospital In-patients with a second Hospitalist (excluding the ICU which is covered by Internists and Surgeons)n
We can pair you with a local physician who is familiar with our EMR and can provide support
n
Local consults are provided by General Internal Medicine, General Surgery, Urology, GP Anaesthesia, GP OB and Palliative Care
n
Psychiatry support is available in the region, mainly from colleagues in Orillia
n
- Psychiatry support in available in the region, mainly from colleagues in Orillia
- Orthopedics support is available in Barrie, Orillia and Collingwood
- On-site laboratory services, CT, Ultrasound, ECHO, X-Ray, Mammography, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Therapy, Dialysis, Chemotherapy
Incentive
Our team may be able to assist with housing options – i.e. house sitting, staying at a local MDs house or reduced hotel ratesn
We will support you with an accommodation stipend $125 / night, to a maximum of $1000.
