Current openings: Shop Hand/General Labourer - Full time with immediate selection and onboarding available

Location: 1390 Springhill Rd., Parksville, BC

Wage: $24 - $27/hr

Job Summary: Responsible for supporting warehouse, yard, and shop operations by safely loading and unloading materials using forklifts, receiving and inspecting shipments, and maintaining accurate inventory. Prepares, labels, and stages materials, pallets, and crates to ensure efficient production and safe shipping. Maintains an organized, clean, and safe yard and shop through regular housekeeping, material handling, and seasonal maintenance tasks. Operates basic hand tools for material preparation while following all safety procedures.



Works both independently and collaboratively to support team productivity and a well-organized work environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- Load and unload material from suppliers’ trucks with forklift
- Package and prepare products, pallets, and crates as required for safe shipping
- Receive and inspect shipments, and report any inventory discrepancies, including shortages and damage
- Receive and store raw material sheets for material processing and assist with inventory tasks
- Maintain an organized yard by stacking pallets and ensuring all parts & materials are stored in designated areas to avoid clutter or disorganization
- Yard tasks including trimming, pressure washing, snow removal, salt application, pothole maintenance
- Shop tasks including sweeping floors and emptying scrap bins as needed
- Operating hand tools to cut, drill, and clean material
- Label incoming and outgoing materials for easy identification
- Gather materials and stage ahead of schedule for production
- Ensure that tools, equipment work areas are maintained in a clean, complete and safe condition
- Follows all safety guidelines regarding safe operations of all equipment and shop movement.
- Can not only work independently but also contribute to our team atmosphere.

Requirements:





- Minimum 5 years of forklift experience required (will in-house certify candidate)
- Good with repetitive tasks
- Organized with an outstanding attention to detail
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in metal fabrication industry would be an asset
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- A positive attitude and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
- Punctual and reliable
- Able to stand for extended period
- Flexible individual with the ability to prioritize a changing workload
- Understanding of quality control procedures used during machine operation
- Able to meet tight deadlines in a repetitive, fast paced professional environment
- Ability to work independently and as a team, self-starter and energetic
- Understands or willing to learn material grade and types
