Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) is an acute care hospital located in Cornwall, Ontario along the scenic St. Lawrence River. CCH provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to a catchment area of 100,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk community of Akwesasne.

Summary of responsibilities

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, the role of Registered Nurse (RN) at CCH is to deliver safe, effective, patient-centered, ethical, and evidenced-based nursing care. The overall function of the RN is to assist our patients and community to manage clinical conditions and transitions and maximise their self-care abilities as well as embody a culture of caregiver inclusion in the patient’s plan of care.



The RN also acts as a resource for members of the care team.

Requirements of the job

- Undergraduate degree (4 year) in nursing or community college diploma in related field
- Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Is committed to living the Mission and Values of Cornwall Community Hospital
- Demonstrated regular, punctual attendance
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety
- Clinical competencies as related to the patient population served on the unit/program of employment
- Ability, training and recent experience in the areas of Women and Children’s Health, pediatrics and obstetrics
- Current FHS certification
- Current NRP certification
- Participant of MORE OB
- Breastfeeding education

Assets:

- Functional proficiency in both official languages (oral and written in English, oral in French)
- PALS (Pediatric Advance Life Support) and ACORN (Acute Care of at-Risk Newborns)

- Ability to teach and mentor RPNs, RNs, students as required
- Completes established curricula as required at the unit level
