- Employment Dates: Approximately May 10 – August 29
n
- Hours: Approximately 36 hours per week; hours may vary by day and include some evenings and weekends, particularly during Cornstock and Cornfest
n
- Wage: $16.00 per hour

nPosition Overview The Interactive Media Writer Summer Student supports the Taber Food Bank Society by creating and managing digital content, promoting food bank programs and fundraisers, assisting with special events, participating in the Vegetable Garden Initiative, and supporting daily food bank operations. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, marketing, event coordination, and community engagement.n

Key Responsibilities

- Create engaging content for social media and public campaigns (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, YouTube)
n
- Update and maintain the Taber Food Bank Society website
n
- Develop and distribute newsletters and donor communications
n




- Design promotional and print materials for events and programs
n
- Assist with planning, promoting, and documenting fundraising events (Cornstock, Cornfest, 50/50 draws, parades, September Food Drive)
n
- Support the Vegetable Garden Initiative, including volunteer recruitment, participation, and content creation
n
- Support client services and administrative staff
n
- Assist with donation intake, weighing and recording items, food sorting, stocking, and distribution
n
- Maintain cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards
n
- Participate as a team member and assist with additional duties as required
n

nQualificationsn

n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
n
- Creative storytelling and interest in digital media and marketing
n
- Intermediate computer skills (Word, Excel, Publisher, Google Workspace, email, Canva, website tools)
n
- Ability to design social media posts, newsletters, and print materials
n
- Solid organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
n
- Comfortable working with the public, volunteers, and diverse populations
n
- Interest in gardening or horticulture
n
- Inventory and record-keeping skills
n
- Ability to lift heavy items and work in cold environments when required
n
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license
n
- Adaptable and able to handle changing priorities
n
- Recommended: First Aid and/or Food Handler Certification
n
- Previous volunteer or community involvement is an asset
n
