Role Description
We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our team in a full-time hybrid role, based in Anzac, AB, with the flexibility to work remotely on occasion. The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage financial operations, including preparing financial statements, managing audits, maintaining accounts, and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations. Key responsibilities include budgeting and forecasting, processing payroll, reconciling accounts, and preparing financial reports for organizational leadership. The role also involves working collaboratively with various teams to ensure sound financial management and strategy.
Qualifications
- Accounting and Finance: Proficiency in financial reporting, general ledger, budgeting, forecasting, and account reconciliation.
- Technical Skills: Experience with financial software systems and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
- Compliance and Auditing: Familiarity with tax laws, accounting standards, and audit processes.
- Analytical and Problem Solving: Robust analytical skills to assess financial processes and resolve discrepancies effectively.
- Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams.
- Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation or working towards CPA certification is a strong asset.
- Work Experience: Minimum of 5 years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in a non-profit or Indigenous organization.
- Additional Skills: Familiarity with financial practices in Indigenous and Métis communities is considered an asset.
