Position Overview

Registered Nurse responsible for providing high‑quality perioperative nursing care on the Inpatient Surgical Unit.

Required Education & Certification

- Current registered member in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current BLS certificate.
- Recent/in‑service courses in Surgical Nursing.

Required Skills & Experience

- Venepuncture and initiation of intravenous therapy.
- Care, maintenance, bloodletting, and discontinuation of central venous/PIC lines.
- Administration of medications below the drip chamber.
- Glucose monitoring.
- Post‑operative PCA pump management.
- Fluid, electrolytes, and blood work management.
- Physical assessment with strong clinical assessment skills.
- TPN management.
- Enteral feeding.
- Chest tube management.
- Wound packing and vacuum assistance.
- Patient education and education planning.
- Ability to plan, organize,



and problem‑solve.
- Clinical documentation using the Meditech Information System.

Desired Skills, Experience & Education

- Minimum 2 years of clinical experience in pre/post‑operative acute care surgery (general, plastics, vascular, orthopaedic, gynaecology, urology, & EENT) preferred.
- Experience in team‑based collaborative environment.
- Ability to assist with mentorship and peer support.
- Enrollment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP). (Optional benefit)
- Knowledge of extended health, semi‑private, and dental advantages for part‑time staff.
