Job Overview

Our client is seeking a Project Controls Specialist (Scheduler / Cost Controller) to support capital projects by integrating scheduling, cost control, and forecasting to ensure effective project planning, governance, and execution.

Qualifications

- Experience in project scheduling, cost control, or project controls within capital projects
- Experience supporting engineering construction projects
- Strong understanding of forecasting, accruals, and budget management
- Proficiency with project controls tools such as Primavera, Excel-based tools, and Maximo
- Experience working in multi-project environments
- Robust analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with Project Managers, Finance teams, and contractors

Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and update detailed project schedules for capital projects
- Monitor schedule performance, identify risks, delays, and mitigation strategies
- Integrate schedule logic with cost and forecasting data
- Prepare and maintain project forecasts and support financial close activities




- Perform contractor billing reviews and validate cost accuracy
- Track and manage change orders and associated cost impacts
- Create, track, and reconcile purchase orders
- Support cost tracking and reporting systems (e.g., Maximo)
- Provide visibility into schedule and cost performance to support decision-making
- Identify variances and proactively elevate risks
- Support governance, auditability, and consistency across projects
- Act as a key project controls partner to Project Managers, reducing administrative burden

Other Pertinent Information

- Hybrid work model: In-office (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday); remote (Wednesday, Friday)
- Travel required: Approximately 10% to work sites
- Driver’s abstract required
- Role supports Capital Development / Engineering Construction initiatives
- Focus on strengthening project governance, cost transparency, and execution efficiency
- Enables Project Managers to focus on leadership, stakeholder management, and safe field execution
