Position Responsibilities
Join our collaborative team of passionate educators who are dedicated to preparing excellent teachers.
The School of Arts and Education invites applications for full-time, Sessional (term-certain)
Bachelor of Education instructor for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Building on your successful K-12 teaching experience, you will teach a variety of courses across the four-year degree program which includes Early Years, Middle Years, and Secondary specializations.
Applicants are encouraged to refer to the program academic planning guide and identify EDUC courses in the Bachelor of Education program they would be qualified to teach, as well as their experience at various grade levels.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education with a minimum of five (5) years successful K-12 teaching experience
- Master of Education or related graduate degree
Preferred Qualifications
Combination of:
- Doctorate in Education or a related field
- Excellent pedagogy, instructional design, and assessment practices
- Foundational knowledge of curriculum, including the new Alberta curriculum framework
- Experience supporting diverse learner needs
- Understanding of Indigenous worldviews
- School-based mentorship and/or leadership experience
- Proficiency with educational technologies, including Google Workspace for Education and BrightSpace
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Experience teaching adult learners, in-person and online, especially in post-secondary

Red Deer Polytechnic offers a comprehensive advantages package including Alberta Blue Cross extended health and dental plans, and health spending account. There is a tuition waiver for RDP credit courses for you as well as your immediate family members, as well as opportunities for professional development funding. The Local Authorities Pension Plan is also offered as an option to those who have served a waiting period. There is paid time off due to Institution closures between Christmas and New Year general holidays. This position also offers an
additional 8% of the regular salary in lieu of vacation.
