SUMMARY OF THE POSITION A person who is responsible for providing nursing care services according to the bio-psycho-social needs of users or groups under her/his care. She/he evaluates the health condition of users, as well as determines and implements nursing care and treatment plans. She/he provides nursing and medical care and treatment aimed at maintaining and restoring health, as well as preventing disease.

She/he plans, provides and evaluates teaching activities intended for the users, their relatives and groups of people. In addition, she/he participates in research activities aimed at promoting health and preventing disease.

SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS
n
Under the authority of the Nursing Coordinator, the nurse provides services to clients of all ages, including a large proportion of pediatric clients.

The Chisasibi Regional
n
Hospital has 29 beds for acute care (5 pediatric), chronic care and respiratory care. In addition to the permanent general practitioners in Chisasibi, various specialists visit the territory on a regular basis to provide services in obstetrics, surgery, pediatrics,
orthopedics, internal medicine, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and psychiatry.

REQUIREMENTS
n
Education
n
Member of the Order of Quebec Nurses (O.I.I.Q.);
DEC in Nursing.
n
Experience
n
Minimum of two years’ experience in different sectors of a hospital;
Experience in emergency, pediatrics, obstetrics (an asset).
n
Knowledge and Abilities
n
Knowledge of Cree culture and social and health issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills;
Valuable resistance to stress;
Excellent communication and listening skills;
Take initiative and be autonomous;
Open to other’s culture, ability to adapt to change and to a current setting;
Show interest and empathy towards others;
Possess a capacity for analysis and synthesis.

Fluent in English;
Fluency in Cree or French is an asset.
