SUMMARY OF THE POSITION A person who assesses the functions of language, voice and speech. It determines a treatment and intervention plan and ensures its implementation with the aim of improving or restoring communication between the human being and his workplace. She/he participates in clinical teaching.

REQUIREMENTS

Education

n
Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology;
Member of the Ordre des orthophonistes et audiologistes du Québec (OOAQ).

Experience

n
Experience working with First Nations or in a cross-cultural context is an asset;
Experience in remote areas is an asset;
Experience in telepractice is an asset;
Experience working with an interpreter is an asset.

Knowledge and Abilities

n




Ability to provide speech therapy interventions and training in English and with an interpreter/third person;
Positive professional record in speech therapy;
Valuable knowledge of speech therapy theory and practice, current trends, the MSSS network and regulations;
Knowledge of the culture, healing practices and paradigms, Cree language and health/social issues in Eeyou Istchee is an asset;
Varied clinical skills;
Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment;
Spirit of openness in terms of language, culture, values and beliefs;
Ability to communicate theoretical and practical knowledge applied to training;
