Position: Materials Testing Technologist

With operations dating back to 2018, Scissors Creek Testing Inc. is based in Southeastern Saskatchewan, Canada and specializes in civil & geotechnical materials testing. It is our focus to support potash producers and industrial clients by performing prompt, effective, and meticulous materials testing.
Position
Scissors Creek Testing is looking to fill a full-time seasonal position as a Materials Testing Technologist. This position will report directly to the Scissors Creek Testing owner, as well as the Engineering Manager, and Materials Lead. This position will consist of a mix of field and lab work dispatched from our Esterhazy location.
Responsibilities
- Conduct field and lab materials testing (primarily concrete testing and in-field compaction testing) and associated documentation for quality control and quality assurance purposes.
- Provide accurate, detailed, and timely reports of all lab and field work.
- Maintain a clean and organized lab space and testing equipment.
- Maintain organized documentation and filing, aligned with Scissors Creek Testing’s Quality Management System and document control policies.
- Uphold Scissors Creek Testing’s Safety Management System and ensure all safety requirements of various sites are being met.
Qualifications
- At least some post-secondary experience is required, with preference given to Engineering degrees or Engineering Technology diplomas. We are willing to give on the job training and courses to the right candidate for job specific skills.
- Materials testing experience, especially concrete and soils experience an asset.
- Experience with CSA, ASTM, and ACI testing standards.
- Strong computer operating skills, including Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Willing to work overtime, including long hours, night shifts or weekends, for potentially extended periods of time.
- Must contribute to a positive work environment, conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner, and be committed to continual improvement.
- Must be eligible to work at Nutrien and Mosaic potash mines, including surface and underground work.
- Physical Requirements: frequently lifting up to 70lbs, standing for extended periods of time, walking over rough terrain, and other repetitive movements.
- Must have valid class 5 driver’s license and provide a clean Driver’s Abstract.
- Must pass a pre-employment Drug & Alcohol screening.
