This position offers a unique opportunity to work collaboratively across two organizations, expanding experience and professional growth while supporting shared initiatives to provide physician services to the community and mine sites. The position offers the successful candidate a chance to work and learn in a dynamic industrial environment while driving positive change and supporting healthy outcomes for one of Saskatchewan’s largest industries.

This permanent full-time position works primarily out of a group practice in Esterhazy and is a joint contract position with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and The Mosaic Company. The joint nature of the contract offers a highly competitive salary for fulfillment of medical director duties for The Mosaic Company.

The family physician will bring a broad range of primary health care and rural emergency room experience, as well as experience, and/or an interest in, occupational health and safety operations. The physician will split their time between meeting the primary health care needs of the citizens of Esterhazy and surrounding area (0.85 FTE), and working with the Mosaic Company (0.15 FTE) to deliver guidance and expertise in matters of Occupational Health as may be required.

The position seeks a strong leader for the Esterhazy community to support the health and wellness of Mosaic employees located throughout Saskatchewan.

The scope of duties for the Medical Director includes:
n
•Occupational health oversight, including injury prevention and health screenings
n
- Medical review case management, such as short-term disability cases,
fitness for duty and return-to-work assessments
- Regulatory compliance and risk management
- Health policy development and wellness policy development
- Medical evaluations for mine personnel
- Medical vendor oversight The medical director will also advise leadership on health policy development and assist with employee health education, and occupational health and safety reporting and verification.

The medical clinic in Esterhazy is modern, well organized and fully equipped. On call coverage at St. Anthony's hospital emergency room is required on a rotational basis and services may also be provided to the local long term care home and surrounding communities within the area, with the opportunity to participate in the Yorkton Regional Hospital Emergency Room service rotation.

Esterhazy is a vibrant community located in the east central part of the province of Saskatchewan, with a population of over 2,500 and services a trading area of approximately 10,000 people. The Town of Esterhazy is about a one hour drive from the City of Yorkton and is nicknamed the “Potash Capital of the World”. The opportunity includes working for the world’s largest integrated producer of fertilizer, Mosaic, with three potash mine sites across Saskatchewan in Esterhazy, Belle Plaine and Colonsay.

Mosaic’s vibrant and dynamic team all assist in providing critical nutrients for farmers to help the world grow the food it needs.

Family physicians may consult with and/or make referrals to specialists at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre which currently provides the following specialty services: obstetrics & gynecology, general surgery, Medical Health Officer, radiology, anesthesiology, pediatrician, psychiatry and internal medicine.

Job Qualifications
n
- Certified or eligible to be certified with the College of Family Physicians of Canada
- Regular or provisional license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan (or eligible to be licensed)
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Recommended - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Valid driver’s license
- Successful Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) credentialing including but not limited to acceptable reference checks and criminal record check with vulnerable sector
- Current Canadian Medical Protective Association coverage
- Legal entitlement to work in Canada

Advantages The successful candidate may be eligible for:

- The Rural Physician Incentive Program which provides up to $200,000 over five years to family physicians practicing, or returning to practice, in rural and remote communities in Saskatchewan
- The SMA Retention Fund, which provides financial reward to physicians who practice in the province for extended periods ranging from $7,000 - $14,000 per year for fulltime work.
