The Role
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as an Engineering Co-op Student for an 8-month term from May to December. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Engineering, this position will support the team with electrical distribution design, engineering projects, GIS data verification, and job package preparation. This position provides an opportunity to gain practical experience, learn from skilled professionals, and contribute to the success of the department and the organization.
What You Will Do
- Support the design and construction of overhead and underground distribution system and services using Burlington Hydro standards and engineering tools such as GIS, AutoCAD, iXp, JOMAR, and SPIDACalc
- Assist with Engineering projects by performing calculations, preparing job packages, and supporting design activities
- Provide field verification support to ensure GIS and engineering records are accurate and up to date
- Participate in field checks and assist with maintaining third-party transfer lists and contracts
- Support document management activities, including scanning, filing, and job closure procedures
- Assist with updating engineering procedures and documentation
- All other duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For
- Enrolled in an accredited post-secondary co-op program in Engineering Technology or a related Engineering discipline, preferably Electrical Engineering Technology
- Valid Ontario Class G driver’s licence in good standing
- Completion of AutoCAD coursework is preferred
- Familiarity with electrical utility standards or engineering design tools is considered an asset
What You’ll Need to Be Successful
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including attention to detail and mathematical accuracy
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain professional working relationships
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and eagerness to learn
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
- Adaptability and willingness to learn new systems, tools, and technologies
