Barista / Lead Barista Barburu is growing, and we're looking for experienced, passionate Baristas and Lead Baristas to join our Toronto team. Known for our premium matcha and freshly made pastries. Barburu is entering an exciting new chapter with a stronger focus on specialty coffee, quality and craftsmanship. Our Toronto location will play an important role in developing Barburu's specialty coffee program, with an emphasis on espresso quality, brewing techniques, consistency, and continuous learning. Location:
Toronto, Ontario What We're Looking For Experience & Coffee Knowledge
- 3+ years of experience in hospitality, preferably in cafés, restaurants, or other fast-paced service environments.
- Previous professional barista experience required.
- Strong understanding of espresso, extraction, and espresso-based beverages.
- Experience with espresso dialing, grinder adjustments, milk steaming, and maintaining beverage consistency.
- Genuine interest in specialty coffee, including coffee origins, processing methods, and brewing techniques.
- Willingness to learn, accept feedback, and continuously improve. Hospitality & Teamwork
- Friendly, approachable, and confident when interacting with customers.
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming café experience.
- Comfortable working efficiently under pressure during high-volume service.
- Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
- Reliable, responsible, punctual, and able to work well within a team.
- Strong attention to cleanliness, presentation, and detail.
- Willing to support all aspects of café operations, including restocking, cleaning, customer service,



and assisting other stations as needed. Availability

Additional Requirements — Lead Barista Our Lead Baristas will take on additional responsibility in maintaining coffee standards, supporting team development, and ensuring smooth daily operations. We're looking for experienced professionals who demonstrate strong technical skills, leadership, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

- Dial in espresso and make necessary adjustments throughout the day to maintain quality and consistency.
- Monitor espresso extraction, beverage preparation, and overall drink standards.
- Train, coach, and support baristas in coffee preparation, workflow, and customer service.
- Maintain recipes, brewing procedures, and quality-control standards.
- Help coordinate bar workflow and maintain efficient service during busy periods.
- Support daily opening and closing procedures.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness, organization, and operational standards.
- Identify areas for improvement and communicate effectively with management.
- Lead by example while fostering a positive, collaborative, and professional work workplace. Previous experience as a Lead Barista, Senior Barista, or Café Supervisor is strongly preferred. Why Join Barburu? Our Toronto location represents an exciting step in Barburu's growth,
