Lead Affrim’s observability platform remotely in Canada, combining backend architecture with telemetry expertise across high-volume distributed systems. As Staff Software Engineer and technical lead, you will shape observability strategy while remaining hands-on. The platform processes 200+ TB daily across hundreds of services and 80+ Kubernetes clusters. Your work will advance wide events, log sampling, and instrumentation for agentic development. 8+ years designing and launching backend systems at scale Python or Kotlin experience developing distributed backend systems AWS, MySQL, Flink, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry, Kafka, or Terraform Experience operating high-volume metrics, logs, or traces Solid communication across global engineering teams Bring scalable backend engineering, observability judgment, and technical leadership to Affrim’s remote Canada platform team.
