We are looking for an experienced, hands-on AWS DevOps & Cloud Security Engineer to lead the migration of our AI-powered neurotechnology platform to AWS and establish a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud infrastructure. The role involves working closely with our development and AI teams to support backend services, data processing pipelines, and AI/LLM integration, while implementing security controls aligned with healthcare privacy requirements. Roles and Responsibilities
• AWS Migration & Architecture: Lead the migration of our existing platform to AWS, including containerized applications, databases, APIs, and background processing services. Select and configure appropriate AWS services for scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Cloud Security: Secure our AWS workplace through least-privilege IAM, network isolation, encryption, secrets management, access controls, and continuous security monitoring.
• Healthcare Compliance: Implement technical safeguards supporting HIPAA and PHIPA compliance, including audit logging, secure data storage, backup and recovery, data retention controls, and audit-ready documentation.
• Backend Infrastructure: Support the deployment and operation of Python-based backend services, REST APIs, PostgreSQL databases, and asynchronous processing pipelines (Celery/RabbitMQ).
• AI Infrastructure: Support secure integration of Amazon Bedrock and other AWS AI/ML services into our existing AI platform, with appropriate data protection and access controls.
• CI/CD & Infrastructure as Code: Build and maintain GitHub Actions pipelines for automated deployment across development, staging, and production environments. Manage infrastructure using Terraform or AWS CDK.
• Cybersecurity & Vulnerability Management: Implement automated security scanning, dependency and container vulnerability checks, patch management, threat detection,
and incident response procedures.
• Monitoring & Reliability: Establish application and infrastructure monitoring, centralized logging, alerting, automated backups, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
• Cost Optimization: Monitor and optimize AWS spending through budgets, alerts, right-sizing, and regular infrastructure reviews.
• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer: Document cloud architecture, security practices, deployment procedures, and operational runbooks, and train our internal team to independently maintain the platform. Required Qualifications
• Strong hands-on experience managing production environments on AWS, including cloud architecture, networking, IAM, and security.
• Experience migrating and deploying containerized web applications to AWS.
• Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and troubleshooting backend applications.
• Experience with Docker, Linux, GitHub Actions, and infrastructure as code (Terraform or AWS CDK).
• Familiarity with PostgreSQL, REST APIs, and asynchronous task processing.
• Experience implementing cloud cybersecurity practices, vulnerability management, monitoring, and backup/recovery systems.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with software developers to troubleshoot and optimize production infrastructure. Nice to Have
• Experience with Django, Celery, RabbitMQ, Redis, and React-based applications.
• Experience implementing security controls for healthcare applications handling PHI under HIPAA or PHIPA.
• Experience with Amazon Bedrock, AI/ML infrastructure, or high-volume scientific data processing.
• Knowledge of AWS services such as ECS/Fargate, RDS, S3, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, and KMS.
• AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect, Security Specialty, or DevOps Engineer Professional.
• Experience with penetration testing coordination, security risk assessments, or compliance audits
