Qualifications

Required Qualifications

- Diploma or degree in environmental science, biology, environmental technology, natural resource management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant environmental field experience, preferably involving construction monitoring or environmental assessments.
- Familiarity with BC environmental regulations, environmental best management practices, and erosion and sediment control measures.
- Strong technical writing, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in the field following appropriate training and communicate effectively with contractors, clients, and team members.
- Willingness to travel to project sites and adapt to changing schedules and field conditions.

- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence.

Additional Assets

- Experience with contaminated sites investigations, environmental sampling, and associated reporting.
- GIS experience, including ArcGIS, QGIS, or equivalent mapping software.
- Marine mammal observation experience, particularly during marine construction activities.
- Experience with marine infrastructure, bridge construction, highway projects, or other civil construction activities.
- Experience conducting fish and wildlife salvages, breeding bird surveys, vegetation assessments, or marine biophysical assessments.

- Ability to interpret construction drawings and understand civil construction methods and equipment.
- Professional designation or eligibility for registration as a BIT, RBTech, CTech, R.P. Biol., or equivalent.

What We Offer

- Competitive compensation of $27–$35/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- A supportive, collaborative team with opportunities for professional growth and mentorship.
- A flexible, decentralized working environment with fieldwork across Vancouver Island and remote office work.
- Diverse and technically engaging projects spanning marine, freshwater, and terrestrial environments.
- Opportunities for professional development, training, and advancement.
- Health spending plan and RRSP/TFSA matching.
- Three weeks of paid vacation.
- Professional membership dues and company-provided equipment.
