About Intelica
Intelica Solutions is a Calgary-based managed IT services provider with over 20 years of experience supporting businesses. We work with servers, networking, Microsoft 365, cloud services, cybersecurity, workstations and business applications. We focus on finding the right solutions for our clients and take pride in good technical work and customer service.
The position
We are hiring two Intermediate IT Systems Administrators for our Calgary team. This is a hands-on IT consulting and technical support role, working directly with clients at their offices and over the phone.
Applicants must currently live in Calgary or the surrounding area and be available for an in-person interview. We do not offer relocation assistance or virtual interviews.
You will visit client sites regularly, often daily. When you are not at a client site, you will work from our downtown Calgary office. This is a fully in office position; we do not offer regular work-from-home arrangements.
A large part of the day is ordinary end-user support: Outlook issues, printers, password resets, workstations and application troubleshooting. Everyone on our team does this work. You will also have opportunities to support servers, firewalls, networks, cloud services and larger infrastructure projects.
We need someone who enjoys dealing with people, takes ownership of problems, and can investigate unfamiliar issues without constant supervision. Some scheduled evening, weekend and on-call work is required. The arrangements and applicable compensation will be discussed during hiring.
What you will do
- Provide remote, telephone and on-site technical support to business clients in Calgary and surrounding communities.
- Troubleshoot Windows PCs, Microsoft 365, Outlook, printers, applications,
user accounts and related problems.
- Support Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, virtualization and backups.
- Configure and troubleshoot switches, wireless networks, firewalls, VPNs and other network equipment.
- Administer Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID and SharePoint environments.
- Own assigned service requests, keep clients informed and maintain accurate ticket notes and documentation.
- Assist with deployments, migrations, maintenance, upgrades and technical projects.
- Use good judgment, available resources and teammates when troubleshooting or escalating issues.
What we are looking for
- Approximately 3–7 years of practical IT support, systems administration or networking experience; equivalent experience will be considered.
- Good working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft 365, Active Directory and networking fundamentals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across multiple client environments.
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills for frequent telephone support, in-person client work and documentation.
- A neat, clean and professional appearance and conduct appropriate for business client environments.
- A willingness to tackle routine support work as well as more complicated infrastructure issues.
- Accurate keyboarding skills of approximately 45 words per minute or faster; a brief practical assessment may be part of the interview.
- MSP experience is strongly preferred. Fortinet, ConnectWise, VMware, Hyper-V and endpoint or backup products are assets.
- Relevant education and certifications are welcome, but hands-on ability matters more.
Additional requirements
- Currently located in Calgary or the surrounding area and able to interview in person.
- Legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable vehicle for regular client visits.
- Ability to safely move IT equipment weighing up to 30 lb (14 kg), using assistance or equipment where appropriate.
- Available for required on-site work, client visits and scheduled after-hours or on-call duties.
What we offer
- Health and dental coverage: Group benefits for eligible full-time employees after the probationary period, subject to plan terms.
- Training and certifications: Company-paid approved training and industry certifications.
- Performance recognition: Opportunities for merit increases, discretionary bonuses and career progression based on performance.
- Company phone: A mobile phone for work-related communication.
- Mileage reimbursement: Reimbursement for eligible business travel in a personal vehicle according to company policy.
- Free parking: On-site employee parking at our Calgary office.
- Food and drinks: An office kitchen stocked with complimentary food, snacks and beverages.
- Technical variety: Exposure to many client environments and opportunities to develop skills with enterprise systems.
