Coordinate surgical bookings at Royal Columbian Hospital using computerized scheduling and patient information systems. This Unit Clerk role supports operating room operations.

Reporting to the Manager, the Unit Clerk/Operating Room Booking Clerk performs clerical duties for a patient care area. The work includes transcribing physician orders, coordinating appointments, arranging tests, and maintaining surgical records. You will communicate with medical staff, offices, hospital departments, and Bed Management while preparing operating room slates and Ministry of Health reports.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prepare and distribute daily and weekly operating room slates
- Coordinate patient appointments, tests, results, and follow-up arrangements
- Review surgical booking packages for completeness




- Maintain computerized surgical waiting lists and patient information
- Prepare statistics and waitlists for the Ministry of Health

Requirements:

- Grade 12 education and medical terminology
- Recognized Nursing Unit Clerk program graduation
- One year of recent related experience, or equivalent preparation
- Keyboarding ability at 40 words per minute
- Effective communication, organization, and computer application skills
