Kits Beach Coffee is a busy, independent neighbourhood café just steps from Kits Beach. We've built a welcoming space known for great coffee, delicious food, and a strong connection to our community.

As our business continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced Café Manager who is passionate about hospitality, developing people, and building a great place to work.

We're looking for someone who knows cafés inside and out. Someone who has spent years in the industry, understands what makes a successful café, and has developed the leadership skills to bring out the best in a team.

This isn't just about managing schedules or keeping things running. It's about building a strong team, improving how we operate, and creating an experience that keeps our guests coming back.

The Opportunity

You'll lead the day-to-day operations of Kits Beach Coffee, working closely with our Front of House and Back of House teams, supervisors, and ownership.

We're an independent business with an established team, existing systems, and plenty of opportunities to improve and grow. You'll have the autonomy to lead, develop people, introduce ideas, and make a meaningful impact.

You'll work directly with ownership, who is involved in the broader business strategy and direction, while you take responsibility for the people, culture, and daily operations of the café.

With the recent opening of our sister business, One More Scoop, and plans for continued growth, there's also an opportunity for the right person to develop into a broader role in the future.

What You'll Be Doing

People, Leadership & Culture

- Lead, support, and develop our FOH and BOH teams.
- Build a positive, professional,



and accountable workplace culture.
- Coach and mentor supervisors and team members.
- Manage hiring, onboarding, performance, and ongoing staff development.
- Create an environment where people feel supported, valued, and proud of their work.

Training & Development

- Lead and continuously improve our employee training programs.
- Establish consistent expectations for service, quality, and performance.
- Develop supervisors into confident, capable leaders.
- Provide regular coaching, feedback, and opportunities for growth.

Operations & Organization

- Oversee daily café operations across FOH and BOH.
- Manage scheduling, labour, inventory, ordering, and operational standards.
- Maintain and improve systems, procedures, and communication.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, consistency, and teamwork.
- Work with ownership to implement improvements and achieve business goals.

Guest Experience

- Set the standard for warm, genuine hospitality.
- Ensure consistent quality in our coffee, food, and service.
- Build relationships with guests and our neighbourhood community.
- Lead by example and create a welcoming environment for everyone who visits.

Who We're Looking For Ideally, you'll bring:
- 8+ years of experience in cafés, specialty coffee, or similar hospitality environments.
- Previous experience managing or supervising a busy café.




- Strong operational knowledge of both FOH and BOH.
- Demonstrated experience training, coaching, and developing teams.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Confidence in making decisions, setting expectations, and holding people accountable.
- A hands-on, approachable leadership style.
- A genuine passion for hospitality, people, and independent businesses.
