About Us
Concrete Blonde Aquatics is a premier aquatic specialty brand dedicated to providing exceptional livestock, supplies, and maintenance services. We are seeking a highly reliable, knowledgeable, and deeply self-motivated Commercial Aquarium Service Technician to join our team.
This role focuses on the professional maintenance and care of commercial display aquariums directly at client locations.
Because this is a fully autonomous role, you will be working completely alone in the field and must have exceptional time management skills to strictly maintain your own service schedule.
If you take immense pride in creating healthy, stunning aquatic ecosystems and thrive under total independence, we want to hear from you!
Key Responsibilities
Schedule Management & Route Autonomy
- Work independently in the field without direct day-to-day on-site supervision.
- Manage and strictly adhere to your assigned service schedule, ensuring timely arrival at all client locations.
- Organize daily travel, tools, and supplies efficiently to maximize route productivity.
- The Importance of Experience: Because you will be working completely alone on high-value client displays, prior hands-on experience is critical. There is no room for guesswork; you must already have the intuition to spot early signs of livestock disease, balance complex water chemistry, and troubleshoot equipment issues on the spot. Your proven expertise ensures our clients' systems thrive without requiring constant oversight.
Aquarium Maintenance & System Service
- Perform routine, high-quality maintenance on commercial freshwater and saltwater aquarium systems.
- Execute regular water changes, gravel vacuuming, and complete décor cleaning.
- Manage algae control and maintain optimal glass/acrylic clarity.
- Conduct meticulous water quality testing and monitor critical parameters.
- Service and troubleshoot filtration units, protein skimmers, sumps, and peripheral equipment.
- Perform comprehensive health assessments of overall aquarium ecosystems.
Livestock & Plant Husbandry
- Closely monitor the health, behaviour, and well-being of fish, corals, and aquatic plants.
- Proactively identify, document, and report potential livestock health or mechanical issues.
- Manage the careful acclimation and introduction of new livestock additions.
- Ensure every display remains clean, vibrant, and visually breathtaking.
Client Relations & Service
- Maintain professional, courteous relationships with our commercial accounts.
- Communicate clear service updates, equipment recommendations, and chemical adjustments to clients.
- Represent Concrete Blonde Aquatics with a high standard of professionalism, punctuality, and dependability.
Position Requirements
- Experience: Proven hands-on experience maintaining both freshwater and saltwater aquarium systems.
- Time Management: Exceptional reliability and the proven ability to strictly manage your own schedule and routine without supervision.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of aquarium equipment, filtration configurations, and water chemistry.
- Autonomy: Ability to work completely alone,
troubleshoot problems on-site, and take full ownership of your accounts.
- Physical Capability: Ability to safely and repeatedly lift up to 50 lbs (e.g., water buckets/jugs).
- Logistics: Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation to travel between accounts.
- Traits: Highly professional, detail-oriented, self-directed, and customer-focused.
- Vehicle & License: Must possess a valid Manitoba driver’s license and a reliable, personal vehicle to travel independently between client locations
Preferred Qualifications
