Merrick Global Talent is recruiting a Diagnostic Radiologist to join a specialist multidisciplinary medical and diagnostic imaging clinic in Edmonton, Alberta.
This is a community-based role within a wider neurological and musculoskeletal service, giving the appointed Radiologist the prospect to work closely with the physicians assessing and treating the patients whose imaging they interpret.
The clinic brings together Diagnostic Imaging, Neurology, Rheumatology, Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Sports Medicine, Orthopaedic Surgery, Pain Medicine, physiotherapy and allied health services within the same organisation. Its diagnostic imaging service currently includes X-ray, general ultrasound, MSK ultrasound and interventional pain management.
The role
You will join an established community-based imaging service and work closely with referring physicians and specialist colleagues.
Your work will include
- Interpreting diagnostic imaging and providing clear, clinically relevant reports.
- Supporting the investigation of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions.
- Working closely with Neurologists, Rheumatologists, Physiatrists, Sports Medicine Physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons and other clinicians.
- Contributing to an integrated pathway where imaging findings can directly inform specialist assessment and treatment.
- Supporting the continued development of the clinic's diagnostic imaging service.
- Developing the position around your own areas of diagnostic expertise where appropriate.
The role may be particularly attractive to a Radiologist who enjoys direct clinical collaboration and wants to work within a specialist community environment rather than exclusively within a hospital setting.
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from Canadian-trained Radiologists and physicians already eligible for independent specialist practice in Alberta.
Internationally trained Radiologists can also be considered where their postgraduate training and specialist certification meet Alberta's requirements.
Diagnostic Radiology is currently included within the CPSA Approved Jurisdiction Route for recognised training from:
- United Kingdom, including recognised Clinical Radiology training through the Royal College of Radiologists.
- Australia and New Zealand, through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists.
- United States, through eligible American Board or American Osteopathic Board of Radiology certification.
- Hong Kong
- Singapore
- South Africa
CPSA applies specific requirements regarding the training body, certification and dates of acceptable training for each jurisdiction.
If you are internationally trained and unsure whether your qualifications meet the Alberta pathway, Merrick Global Talent can review your background with you before you begin the full licensing process.
Why consider this role?
What makes the position different is the clinical model.
Diagnostic imaging is integrated with the wider medical service rather than operating separately. Radiologists work within an organisation where Neurology, Rheumatology, Physiatry, Sports Medicine, Orthopaedics, Pain Medicine and rehabilitation are all part of the wider patient pathway.
For a Radiologist looking to build a permanent career in Alberta within a specialist community setting, this offers an alternative to a conventional hospital-only position.
Merrick Global Talent will also support internationally trained physicians with understanding CPSA registration and the practical steps involved in relocating to Alberta.
