Dog Trainer – Arsenal Canine Academy

[Calgary, AB] · Full-time · $26–$30/hour plus a per-dog completion bonus

Read this first

Arsenal trains dogs with its own written system. Every trainer here uses it, including experienced ones. If you have a method you're attached to and want to run your own way, this isn't the place for you, and that's okay.

If you want a structured, professional system, a real credential and a career path that doesn't stall, keep reading.

What you'll do

Run 3-week CLARITY Immersion and CLARITY Coaching programs from start to finish

Train dogs using the Arsenal CLARITY™ system: clear teaching first, fair accountability only once a dog understands

Deliver go-home lessons and coach owners until they can handle their dog themselves

Keep accurate session notes and video documentation

Flag behaviour, health or safety concerns right away The Arsenal certification

Every new trainer completes a paid certification in our system: hands-on assessments, written and verbal tests, and a mock owner lesson. Experienced trainers can fast-track the foundation phases, but everyone passes the same standard.

Pass and you're fully cleared to run programs and earn the completion bonus. It's a real credential, not "shadow someone for a week."

Where this job can take you

Each step has written criteria and comes with a raise. Senior Trainers mentor new staff. The Head Trainer oversees trainer development and assigns dogs to trainers.

Clear advancement with a raise at each level

Who we're looking for

Hands-on experience handling and training dogs, including strong or difficult ones

Calm under pressure, with the dog and with the owner

Comfortable with leash-pressure and e-collar work and willing to learn our approach to it

Takes feedback and applies it

Communicates clearly with clients, including when progress is slow

Reliable, organized and keeps honest records

Formal certification is an asset, not a requirement

How to apply

Send your resume and answer this in a few sentences: Tell us about a time you had to work within a training system that wasn't your own. How did it go? Applications without an answer won't be considered.
