Ottawa

Join an established Family Health Organisation with solid patient demand and the potential to take over an existing patient panel.

Merrick Global Talent is recruiting Family Physicians for a well-established multidisciplinary clinic in Orléans, in Ottawa’s east end.

For a physician considering a move to Ontario, one of the biggest questions is how quickly you can establish a viable practice. This opportunity is particularly attractive because you may not need to start from zero.

The clinic is planning ahead for up to two Family Physician openings over winter 2026 and early spring 2027, as existing physicians may step back from practice. This creates the potential for incoming physicians to take over substantial existing patient rosters, alongside continued demand from patients in the local community.

Why consider this opportunity?

Established patient demand

There is significant demand for Family Medicine in the area. Incoming physicians will be joining an existing healthcare facility with an active patient population rather than trying to build awareness for a new clinic.

Potential existing patient panel The anticipated vacancies are linked to existing physicians potentially stepping back from practice. Depending on timing and final arrangements, this could provide an incoming physician with the opportunity to inherit an established roster of patients.

Family Health Organisation The clinic operates within an established Family Health Organisation (FHO), providing physicians with an alternative to a purely fee-for-service model and the opportunity to develop a long-term comprehensive Family Medicine practice.

Full details of the payment structure, roster arrangements and expected income can be discussed confidentially with suitable physicians.

Multidisciplinary environment

You will be working alongside an established group of Family Physicians and a range of specialists.

The wider clinical team includes services across areas such as Paediatrics, Rheumatology, Haematology, Allergy and Immunology, Dermatology and Paediatric Endocrinology, giving Family Physicians access to colleagues across a broader healthcare setting.

Experienced clinic support The practice has an established administrative and reception team supporting physicians with the day-to-day running of their practice.

The clinic is structured to allow physicians to focus on clinical work while providing the infrastructure needed to manage a busy patient panel effectively.

Flexibility in how you practise The clinic offers flexibility around working hours and allows physicians a degree of autonomy over how they structure their practice.

For physicians relocating from the UK or another healthcare system, this can provide considerably more control over your working week and the way you manage your patient population.

Living in Orléans

Orléans is a large residential community in the eastern part of Ottawa, offering access to the wider Ottawa area while providing a more suburban setting for physicians relocating with partners or children.

The clinic itself is easily accessible, with free parking and public transport connections.

For physicians considering Ontario but who do not necessarily want to live or work in central Toronto, Ottawa can provide a very different option.

International physicians

We are particularly interested in speaking with experienced Family Physicians who are considering relocating to Ontario.

You may be suitable if you:

- Hold recognised postgraduate training in Family Medicine or General Practice
- Are currently registered with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, or have a realistic pathway towards CPSO registration
- Are looking to establish a long-term Family Medicine practice in Ontario
- Value autonomy, continuity of care and the opportunity to develop an established patient panel

UK-trained GPs considering Canada are encouraged to enquire.

The clinic already works with internationally trained physicians, so you would not be entering an environment unfamiliar with doctors who have trained outside Canada.

Licensing and relocation support

Relocating to Canada involves considerably more than securing a job.

Merrick Global Talent will work with suitable physicians throughout the process, including guidance around:

- Ontario medical licensing
- CPSO requirements
- The clinic interview and selection process
- Understanding the Canadian practice model
- Relocation planning
- Practical considerations for partners and families
- Preparing for the transition into Canadian Family Medicine

We will also give you a realistic view of the opportunity before you make any commitment to relocate.

Interested?

If you are looking at Ontario and want to join an established practice with genuine patient demand, an existing FHO structure and the potential to take over an established patient panel, we would be happy to discuss the opportunity confidentially.

Apply through Merrick Global Talent or contact us directly at [email protected].
