Transparent Glazing Systems Ltd. is an established commercial glazing contractor serving the Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland construction industry. With over 26 years in business, we specialize in commercial glazing, storefronts, entrances, windows, architectural glass and related glazing systems.

We are looking for an experienced Glazing Estimator to join our team. This position is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of commercial glazing who can accurately review construction documents, complete material and labour takeoffs, obtain supplier pricing and prepare competitive proposals.

The successful candidate will work closely with general contractors, suppliers, project managers, drafting, fabrication and field personnel from the initial tender stage through project award and turnover.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for commercial glazing projects
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda and tender documents
- Complete accurate material and labour takeoffs
- Estimate storefront, entrances, windows, glass, aluminum and other architectural glazing systems
- Obtain and review supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Develop material, labour, equipment and subcontractor pricing
- Identify project scope requirements, exclusions, clarifications and potential risks
- Prepare professional proposals and submit bids within required tender deadlines
- Review drawings and specifications for discrepancies, omissions and coordination issues
- Issue RFIs and obtain clarification where required during the tender process
- Communicate with general contractors, suppliers,



architects and clients regarding tender requirements
- Assist with value engineering and alternative product or system pricing
- Participate in project turnover meetings for awarded projects
- Work closely with Project Management and Operations to ensure a complete and accurate handover
- Maintain organized estimating files, supplier quotations and historical pricing information
- Monitor material pricing, labour requirements and changing market conditions
- Assist with preliminary budgets and design-stage estimates when required
- Review awarded projects against estimate assumptions and pricing

Requirements
- Minimum 3+ years of estimating experience within commercial glazing, architectural glass, storefront, curtain wall or a related construction environment
- Strong understanding of commercial glazing systems and installation methods
- Experience estimating storefront, entrances, windows and architectural glass systems
- Ability to accurately read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications and construction documents
- Experience completing quantity takeoffs and preparing commercial construction bids
- Understanding of glass, aluminum, hardware and related glazing materials
- Good understanding of labour requirements and installation processes
- Experience working with estimating and takeoff software
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills




- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to manage several tenders and deadlines simultaneously
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with general contractors, suppliers, project managers and field personnel
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Outlook

Experience taking a project from tender drawings through final proposal and understanding how estimating decisions affect fabrication and field installation will be considered a strong asset.
