Handyman (Independent Contractor), Guelph

About the role

OneStop is looking for an experienced, reliable handyperson to take residential service appointments in Guelph. This is freelance work, not an employee role. When a customer books a job that matches your skills and availability, we notify you. If you accept, you arrive on time, do quality work, communicate clearly, and represent OneStop well in the customer’s home.

Typical jobs

- Drywall patching and repair
- Door adjustments and hardware, lock, hinge, and handle replacement
- Cabinet adjustments and minor modifications
- Shelf, curtain rod, mirror, and TV mounting
- Furniture assembly
- Caulking, sealing, and finishing
- Basic painting touch-ups
- Trim and small carpentry
- Minor bathroom and kitchen repairs, and like-for-like fixture swaps
- Punch-list items and light home maintenance

Note: this role does not include electrical or plumbing work that requires a licence.

Requirements

- 2+ years of paid residential repair or maintenance experience (your own home or a single summer job doesn’t count)
- Hands-on experience in at least 4 of the job types above
- Your own tools for the work you’re qualified to do
- Your own valid insurance, with proof on request
- Valid driver’s licence and your own vehicle
- Based in or within about 30 minutes of Guelph




- Comfortable working as an independent contractor
- Working phone number and email on your resume

What we expect

- Show up on time and tell us right away if anything changes
- Treat customers and their homes with respect, and leave the area clean
- Work independently without constant supervision

Nice to have Experience beyond the core 4 job types, in-home customer-facing work, your own handyman business or named repeat clients, a carpentry, renovation, or property maintenance background, and Working at Heights, WHMIS, or First Aid certificates. Candidates with 5+ years of experience.

Pay

Paid per approved appointment completed. Best suited to someone already set up to work independently who wants consistent side work or extra booked jobs.

How we select

Resumes are screened against the requirements above. Shortlisted candidates get a phone call. Before regular work, we’ll also ask for 2 references from paid work, a criminal record check, WSIB clearance or exemption, a signed Independent Contractor Agreement, and a short paid trial job.
