Ingredient Content Coordinator — Food & Nutrition

Westpoint Naturals | Port Coquitlam, BC

Job type: Part time, 20–30 hours per week – could convert to full-time.

Pay: $22–$25 per hour, depending on experience

Schedule: Flexible; suitable for a senior student or recent graduate

About the opportunity

Do you love learning about food ingredients? Are you the person who wants to know why one flour works differently from another, what makes an ingredient functional, or how to substitute ingredients in a recipe?

Westpoint Naturals is a Canadian food company specializing in baking ingredients, herbs and spices, functional foods and specialty pantry products.

We're developing Ingredient Intelligence, a new digital resource that helps consumers better understand the ingredients they buy.

Through QR codes on our packaging, consumers will be able to access useful information about an ingredient: where it comes from, its nutritional properties, how it works, how to use it, what can replace it, and how the product is sourced and handled.

We're looking for a curious, organized and detail-oriented person to help us research, write and organize this content.

This is a junior content development role, not a laboratory research or food formulation position. It's a great prospect for a student or recent graduate who enjoys food science, research and communicating information clearly.

What you'll do

Research and create ingredient content

- Research food ingredients using reliable sources, supplier documentation and technical references.
- Write clear, engaging explanations of ingredient properties, uses and benefits.
- Explain how ingredients work in cooking and baking.

- Research common substitutions, ingredient comparisons and practical usage tips.
- Organize nutritional information, preparation instructions, storage recommendations and ingredient characteristics.
- Help develop answers to frequently asked consumer questions.
- Review and edit content for clarity, consistency and accuracy.

Organize our Ingredient Intelligence library

- Help build a structured library of information across Westpoint's product range.
- Gather existing information from product specifications, supplier documents and internal resources.
- Organize product origin, quality and traceability information for review by our quality assurance team.
- Enter, format and maintain content on our digital platform.
- Identify missing information and help coordinate research or clarification.
- Maintain references and ensure content is kept current.

Make technical information easy to understand

- Turn complicated ingredient information into practical, consumer-friendly explanations.
- Help develop comparison charts, ingredient guides and simple educational resources.
- Work with our team to ensure information is useful, accurate and easy to navigate.

What we're looking for
- Currently studying or recently graduated from a program in food science, nutrition, food technology, food studies or a related field.

- Strong research and writing skills.
- Genuine interest in food ingredients, cooking, baking and nutrition.
- Ability to understand technical information and explain it in plain language.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Comfortable using spreadsheets, online research tools and digital content platforms.
- Willingness to learn and ask questions.

Nice to have, but not required

- Experience with food labelling, quality assurance or food manufacturing.
- Familiarity with gluten-free baking, ingredient substitutions or functional foods.
- Experience writing educational content, product descriptions or blog articles.
- Basic familiarity with website content management systems.

About AI

We welcome the use of AI and other digital tools to support research, editing and productivity. However, our content must be based on reliable information and verified sources.

We're looking for someone who enjoys learning and understands that good content requires human judgment, curiosity and attention to detail.

Why join Westpoint?

You'll work directly with a small, experienced team and help build a new digital ingredient education platform from the ground up.

You'll gain practical experience in food ingredients, research, content development, product information and digital publishing.

This is an opportunity to work on a meaningful project, build a portfolio of published work and learn how a Canadian food company operates.

Pay: $22.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20.0 – 30.0 per week

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Port Coquitlam, BC V3C 6M9
