About the opportunity

Do you enjoy figuring out why some online stores convert visitors into customers while others don't? Do you like experimenting with website layouts, search rankings, product merchandising and digital tools?

Westpoint Naturals is an established Canadian food company specializing in baking ingredients, herbs and spices, functional foods and specialty pantry products.

We operate a growing Shopify ecommerce store, www.westpointnaturals.shop, and we're looking for a resourceful, digitally savvy person to help us accelerate its growth.

This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys experimenting, solving problems and seeing measurable results.

We're not looking for someone to simply maintain a website or post on social media. We want someone who is curious about what drives online sales and excited to test ideas that make a difference.

You'll work directly with the company's leadership team and have the opportunity to take ownership of real ecommerce growth initiatives.

What you'll do

Shopify optimization and merchandising

- Improve product pages, descriptions, collections, navigation and product recommendations.
- Identify opportunities to make products easier to find and purchase.
- Create and test product bundles, complementary product recommendations and cross-selling opportunities.
- Improve the customer shopping experience, particularly on mobile devices.
- Help maintain accurate, compelling product information across the store.

SEO and organic traffic growth

- Research keywords and search trends relevant to our products.
- Optimize product and collection pages for search engines.
- Improve website content,

internal linking and product discoverability.
- Identify opportunities to attract shoppers searching for specific ingredients, dietary needs or cooking applications.
- Monitor organic traffic and search performance.

Digital growth and conversion

- Review Shopify analytics to understand customer behaviour and identify opportunities.
- Experiment with ways to improve conversion rate, average order value and repeat purchases.
- Help develop and test promotional offers, bundles and merchandising ideas.
- Assist with Google Merchant Center and basic Google Ads campaign monitoring.
- Track the results of changes and recommend what to try next.

Digital tools and new initiatives

- Explore practical ways to use AI, automation and digital tools to improve ecommerce efficiency.
- Help connect our new Ingredient Intelligence platform with relevant Shopify products and collections.
- Research ecommerce best practices and identify ideas worth testing.
- Assist with basic website updates and troubleshooting.

What we're looking for
- Currently studying or recently graduated from a program in marketing, ecommerce, business, digital media, technology or a related field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Familiarity with Shopify or another ecommerce platform.
- Strong digital literacy and willingness to learn new tools.
- Interest in SEO, ecommerce merchandising and online consumer behaviour.
- Comfortable working with numbers, spreadsheets and website analytics.
- Curious, resourceful and able to work independently.

- Strong attention to detail and a practical, problem-solving mindset.
- Someone who enjoys experimenting, measuring results and improving what works.

Nice to have, but not required

- Hands-on Shopify experience, including personal projects or small online stores.
- Familiarity with Google Analytics, Search Console, Merchant Center or Google Ads.
- Basic HTML/CSS or experience with website builders.
- Experience with email marketing, customer retention or ecommerce automation.
- Understanding of SEO and conversion rate optimization.
- Interest in food, cooking, health or consumer packaged goods.

What makes someone successful in this role? You don't need years of experience or an extensive marketing portfolio.

We're looking for someone who notices things, asks good questions and takes initiative.

For example

- Why are customers visiting a product page but not purchasing?
- Could better product recommendations increase the average order value?
- Are customers searching for products we carry but can't easily find?
- Could a new collection attract shoppers looking for gluten-free baking ingredients?
- What small website change could make shopping easier?

You'll be encouraged to bring ideas forward, test them and learn from the results. Why join Westpoint?
- Work directly with the leadership team of an established Canadian food company.
- Gain practical experience managing and growing a real ecommerce business.
- Take ownership of projects and see the results of your work.
- Experiment with modern digital tools and ecommerce technology.
