Licensed Plumber / Plumbing Contractor – Independent Service Provider

About Swipr

Swipr is a home-services marketplace that connects Toronto customers with qualified independent service providers. Swipr facilitates bookings, processes customer payments, generates customer invoices and provides contractors with payout statements.

We are expanding our plumbing category and are seeking experienced, properly qualified plumbers and licensed plumbing contractors interested in receiving additional customer bookings through the Swipr platform.

This is an independent contractor marketplace opportunity, not an hourly employment position. Providers choose which available bookings they wish to accept and independently determine how the plumbing work will be completed in accordance with applicable codes and skilled standards.

Compensation

Provider earnings start at an estimated equivalent of $105 per service hour.

Actual payout varies based on the scope and duration of the booking, approved add-ons, complexity, emergency or after-hours service and other applicable factors. The complete service details, location and provider payout will be displayed before the provider chooses whether to accept a booking.

There are no guaranteed bookings, hours or earnings. Providers remain free to work with their own customers, other companies and other platforms.

Approved materials, permits, parking and other eligible job expenses may be added to a booking when authorized and properly documented.

Responsibilities

- Review available plumbing bookings and independently choose which bookings to accept
- Diagnose and complete residential plumbing repairs, replacements and installations
- Independently determine the appropriate methods, tools and materials required for the work
- Follow applicable Ontario codes, municipal licensing requirements and permit procedures

- Obtain required permits and inspections when applicable
- Inform the customer and Swipr when additional work, time or materials are required before proceeding
- Maintain professional and respectful communication with customers
- Submit completion details, photographs and approved materials receipts through Swipr
- Maintain all qualifications, licences and insurance required for the services offered

Swipr generates the applicable customer invoice and provider payout statement. Providers are not required to prepare a separate invoice for the customer.

Qualifications required when applying

- Legally authorized to perform plumbing work in Ontario, such as holding a valid 306A Certificate of Qualification, Provisional Certificate of Qualification or Registered Training Agreement
- Residential plumbing experience
- Own or have reliable access to the professional tools and equipment required for accepted bookings
- Reliable transportation throughout the selected Toronto service area
- Smartphone capable of running the Swipr provider application
- Authorization to work in Canada

Requirements before receiving bookings
- Active City of Toronto Plumbing Contractor licence, or participation through a business holding the required contractor licence
- Work performed under the supervision of the licensed Master Plumber associated with the Plumbing Contractor licence
- Commercial general liability insurance of at least $2 million per occurrence
- Valid WSIB clearance where required,

or documentation confirming the provider’s applicable WSIB status or exemption
- Legal ability to operate as an independent service provider and receive contractor payouts
- Required permits, inspections and trade authorizations for the services accepted
- Completion of Swipr’s identity, licensing, insurance, tax and banking verification

Applicants who do not yet have every insurance or business document may still apply if they are willing and able to complete all requirements before activation. No provider may accept bookings until all mandatory documents have been verified.

Application process

Apply through Indeed. Qualified applicants will be invited to a short screening conversation. Selected applicants will then complete secure document verification and accept the Provider Agreement through the Swipr provider application.

Swipr onboarding is the final verification stage and not a second job application.
