Merrick Global Talent is recruiting a Paediatrician for a major new multidisciplinary medical clinic in Calgary, Alberta.

The clinic is being developed as part of a growing Canadian medical group and will have capacity for approximately 18 physicians, bringing together Family Medicine, specialist care, allied health and dental services in one location.

This is a permanent community-based opportunity for a Paediatrician looking to build a substantial outpatient practice with the infrastructure of a larger medical group behind them.

The clinic The Calgary centre has been designed to support physicians with the practical infrastructure needed to develop a busy practice.

The clinic will provide:

- Modern consulting and clinical facilities
- Experienced administrative and medical office support
- Billing and EMR support
- Family Physicians and specialists working from the same centre
- Allied healthcare services on site
- Strong anticipated patient demand
- Flexible working arrangements
- Access to the wider clinic group's growing physician and patient network

The group also operates a physician profit-sharing model, with no upfront buy-in required, subject to the terms agreed with the individual physician.

Scope of work The Paediatrician will provide outpatient general Paediatric care to children and adolescents within the Calgary community.

The scope is expected to include:

- New patient consultations and specialist assessments
- Diagnosis and management of acute and chronic childhood conditions
- Growth and developmental concerns
- Respiratory and allergic conditions




- Gastrointestinal presentations
- Behavioural and developmental concerns
- Childhood infections and general medical presentations
- Follow-up of children with ongoing medical conditions
- Providing specialist advice to referring Family Physicians
- Coordinating onward referral to hospital or subspecialist services where required

There will also be scope to discuss particular Paediatric subspecialty interests where these can be incorporated into the clinic's wider service.

This is primarily a community outpatient role, with the physician able to develop their practice alongside Family Physicians and other specialists within the clinic.

The chance The Calgary clinic is being built as a large multidisciplinary centre rather than around a single physician.

For the incoming Paediatrician, this creates the opportunity to develop a specialist service alongside a substantial Family Medicine presence, providing an important source of referrals as the clinic grows.

The physician will operate within Alberta's fee-for-service system, with the commercial structure and physician split agreed directly with the clinic.

We can consider Paediatricians who may qualify for the CPSA Approved Jurisdiction Route, including recognised specialist training from:

- United Kingdom: Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health
- Australia and New Zealand: Royal Australasian College of Physicians
- Hong Kong: Hong Kong College of Paediatricians
- Singapore: recognised specialist Paediatrics training
- South Africa: HPCSA / Colleges of Medicine of South Africa
- Switzerland: Swiss Medical Association
- Ireland: Royal College of Physicians of Ireland
- United States: American Board or American Osteopathic Board of Pediatrics

The approved route is dependent on the physician's exact postgraduate training, certification and dates of training. For eligible specialists, CPSA's current Approved Jurisdiction Route can lead directly to registration on Alberta's General Register without the additional Canadian certification examinations or practice assessments required under other routes.
